Meaning
The certificate refinement class consists of changes that refine how a fixed intrinsic datum or passage is certified.
GAT VIII denotes these changes by W_cert. The intrinsic reduction formally inverts them only with the stated common-refinement and coherence properties, so that the certificate choices can be removed without changing the underlying comparison geometry.
Example (illustrative)
Two proofs of the same admitted passage may both be represented on a common finer certification demand. When the required coherence conditions hold, that common refinement explains why the two certificate presentations describe one intrinsic passage.
Scope and limits
Changing substantive physical data is not a certificate refinement. The justification must work for passages and composition, not only for isolated objects.
